PASCHAL ALUMNI ONLINE MARCH
2011
PASCHAL TEACHERS' WISH LIST FOR ITEMS NEEDED BY STUDENT
ORGANIZATIONS
“The Paschal Alumni Association was founded
in 1990, as a result of The Paschal Century Celebration, held in October of 1988
and numbers nearly 17,000 members. It was chosen by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram
as one of the city’s top five organizations whose purpose is to give back to the
community. The association has been a generous supporter of Paschal and has
helped to fund numerous improvements in the academic, athletic and
extra-curricular areas, as well as contributing to many capital improvements,
such as renovation of the gym and the installation of a new sound system in the
auditorium.”--from the Alumni
Association website
Supporting the Paschal Alumni Association will keep you better
informed about your alma mater. Our class representative is
Carrol Payne Nokes.
Visit the Alumni Association section on the Paschal website at

Waken the Sleeping Panther!
(May 2008 Paschal Alumni Association letter)
Dear
PHS Alumni, Parents and Friends,
For 122 years,
R.L. Paschal High School has served as the educational foundation of our
community, where students and teachers alike have set the standard of
achievement to which other schools aspire.
This year alone,
Paschal has produced 61 National Merit semifinalists, Commended scholars and
Minority scholars — setting a record for Tarrant County. Eighty-eight students
have been recognized as Superintendent’s Scholars—more than the rest of the Fort
Worth Independent School District combined. Over 1,300 students—well over
half the student body—are enrolled in Pre-Advanced and Advanced-Placement
classes. As a Fort Worth institution, Paschal is unrivaled in fostering
exceptional students.
With the
incredible academic strides made at Paschal, the modernization of the school’s
infrastructure, and the revitalization of the Berry Street corridor, we feel it
is time for our school to put its best paw forward, so to speak.
The successful
November 2007 bond election in Fort Worth will provide much-needed improvements
to the infrastructure of R.L. Paschal High School. Voters approved $11 million
dollars to modernize the infrastructure of the school with items crucial to a
well-rounded student: everything from upgraded athletic facilities and
up-to-date science labs, to campus network improvements and interactive
whiteboards.
Now we ask for
your help to revamp and refresh the face of the campus. Not just a coat of fresh
paint—but new seating areas, safer sidewalks and environmentally-sound
landscaping. The public face of the school needs to be brought up to the
standards we ask of our students, teachers and administrators inside. It is time
to waken the sleeping Panther.
Your help is
vital in raising funds to improve the front of the school. Driving by the school
on Forest Park needs to be a source of pride again, for Panthers young and old,
and for the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.

We shape our buildings, thereafter they shape us.
This is a
once-in-a-generation opportunity to leave your mark on the R.L. Paschal High
School grounds (without fear of a trip to the principal’s office). Whether you
choose a pavestone, a bench, a tree, or an entire seating wall, your
personalized memorial will be a lasting part of the Paschal grounds. Fellow
Panthers for years to come will know where your heart lies.
All told, there will be
one large seating area, three smaller seating areas, 11 benches, and 16 trees.
We’re also excited to tell you that, starting at the entrance to the school, the
new walkway will be covered in personalized pavestones. You can celebrate
yourself, your family, an entire graduating class, an organization, or your
company—whatever or whoever you choose.

Update 6-13-08
It's official...
the Board of the Paschal Alumni Foundation has approved reference to
"non-sanctioned" social clubs in pavestone inscriptions. While no longer in
existence, these organizations played an important role in the rich history of
Paschal. Feel free to include your club as a part of your legacy in the wording
for your pavestone. Thanks to Glynnene LePhiew Snyder for corresponding with the
Foundation to obtain this approval.
