If You Can Read This, Thank a
Teacher!
How well I remember Mrs. Grisso's Biology class,
especially the hapless frog that we all met in lab. It was her
enthusiasm and knowledge that led me to major in Zoology at the
University of Texas at Austin, and go on to work in the areas of
coevolution of plants and insects, RNA studies, and, primarily,
reproductive neuroendocrinology, all at UT. Without her
encouragement I might well have majored in English lit and missed
out on an area of work and study that fascinates me still. Thanks
Mrs. Grisso! PS: I do still enjoy English lit.

What can I say... Mrs Gaither made
Mathematics fun ... In Trig class, when we worked on Trig
Identities, she always said "tick a lock" meaning you weren't
supposed to work both sides of the equation. I'm sure she knew what
went on in our minds, and she guided us carefully. She was a
terrific teacher.

Since my graduation in 1960, I have reflected on
my English education and remembered that it was my favorite of all
classes. This memory was due to Mrs. Louise Stallings, a very "hands
on" educator. She made her class very interesting by transporting
"you" into the middle of the book, poem or story of the masters! A
particular incident in the classroom was the afternoon she asked me,
"Do you know why I call on you to read aloud to the class?" Her
explanation was that I read the material exactly the way the author
intended it to be read! I have never forgotten that compliment!
Consequently, counseling, writing scrips for commercials, teaching
training, and communicating has been my passion! My life has been
fun and financially rewarding because of You! Thank you, again, Mrs.
Stallings

I never had a class that I enjoyed more than my
senior english class with Ms Ripper. She really knew how to make her
class interesting and exciting and bring the students into active
participation. She took greater interest in her students as well and
challenged us and brought out the best in us. What she taught me in
Senior english did inspire me to achieve more than I thought
possible. Thank you Ms Ripper.

I will never forget Mrs. Vanderpool
saying "all right class, what's the plan? We've got to have a plan."
So many times with my children and grandchildren, I find myself
saying "okay kids, what's the plan? We've got to have a plan." Thank
you for this valuable lesson, Mrs. Vanderpool!

Chances
are, you remember something a teacher taught you, or tried to teach
you. Maybe one of your teachers had a philosophy that made an
impression on you. Maybe one or more of your teachers believed in
your potential, and inspired you to achieve more than you ever
thought possible. Maybe you remember a particular incident in the
classroom that served as a turning point in your life. Maybe we're
over-engineering this! Maybe you'd simply like to fill out this form
and tell...
